Diwali gifts — saffron and dry fruits, priced honestly
For Diwali, saffron and dry fruits are the default gift in most of India because they are shareable, they keep, and they do not need to be sized or matched to taste. A jar of Kashmiri saffron runs from ₹360 for a gram to ₹3,600 for ten; a dry-fruit box that feels substantial sits between ₹750 and ₹1,550. Order three to four weeks ahead, and understand that a Diwali box is the one time of year when the saffron in it can genuinely be new-harvest: Pampore is picked across late October, days before Diwali 2026.
What people actually give at Diwali
Diwali gifting splits cleanly into two markets, and the right gift is different in each.
Corporate gifting is about a fixed per-head budget across a lot of people, all of whom must get the same thing. That rules out anything sized or personal and rules in a sealed box that looks considered on a desk. Saffron works unusually well here because almost nobody buys it for themselves, so a ₹700 jar reads as more generous than a ₹700 box of chocolates.
Family gifting is the opposite: fewer people, higher spend, and the giver knows the household. Here a larger saffron jar or a mixed box of almonds, walnut kernels and figs is the safer answer than a hamper of things nobody asked for.

What a Diwali gift actually costs
Prices below are what these cost in our shop today, not indicative ranges. Saffron is priced by the gram, so a jar costs exactly its weight times the rate: ₹360 a gram for Super Nigeen, ₹330 for Mongra Grade 1, which is the same harvest sorted for shorter threads.
The honest advice on quantity: a 1 g jar is roughly five hundred threads, which is months of kahwa for one household. For a gift, 1 g reads slight and 5 g reads generous, and the jump between them is about ₹1,440.

How far ahead to order
Three to four weeks before Diwali for a bulk or corporate order, and about ten days for one or two boxes.
The constraint is not stock, it is packing and courier load. Hampers are assembled and sealed to order rather than sitting made-up in a warehouse, and every Indian courier network is at its worst in the fortnight before Diwali. A parcel that takes three days in September takes six in the last week of October, and no seller can fix that for you.

What arrives fresh
Diwali is the one festival where our saffron can be genuinely new-crop. Pampore is harvested across late October and early November, so a jar packed for a November Diwali holds threads picked weeks earlier. Nothing else in the year lines up like that, and it is why we open pre-orders in October rather than packing ahead in September.

- What is the best Diwali gift for employees?
- A sealed jar of saffron or a 500 g dry-fruit pack, at a fixed per-head budget so everyone gets the same thing. Saffron gifts unusually well in a corporate setting because it is expensive per gram, almost nobody buys it for themselves, and it does not spoil if it sits on a desk for a week.
- How much saffron should I give as a Diwali gift?
- Five grams is the size most people give. One gram is about five hundred threads — genuinely months of use — but it looks slight as a gift. Ten grams is a gift for someone close, or for a household that cooks with it constantly.

A jar bought in June is from the previous autumn. Saffron keeps well for two years stored properly, so older is not bad — but new-crop is a real difference and Diwali is when it happens.
