About this product

Pure Mongra (all-red stigma) saffron from our family's own fields in Pampore, Kashmir — not blended, not coloured, not Iranian re-packed. Each jar carries a batch code you can verify, an ISO 3632 grade card, and the harvest date. Deep crimson threads, a honey-hay aroma, and a fast water-bloom test you can do at home.

How to use: steep 8–10 threads in two tablespoons of warm milk or water for 10 minutes, then add to biryani, kheer, kahwa, badam milk or baking. A 5g jar holds roughly 2,500 threads — months of daily use for most kitchens.

Storage: keep the jar sealed, away from light and moisture. Stored well, Grade I saffron holds its colour and aroma for over two years. Every order is packed in a tamper-evident jar with our family-story card and authenticity insert.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know this Kashmiri saffron is real and not Iranian?

Each jar ships with an ISO 3632 grade card, a batch code you can verify on our Proof page, and instructions for the home water-bloom test. Real Kashmiri saffron releases colour slowly (5-10 minutes) and the threads stay intact. Iranian saffron often dissolves quickly or releases colour instantly. Our saffron is grown in our family's own fields in Pampore — we never blend or re-pack.

How many threads are in a 5g jar of Kashmiri Mongra saffron?

A 5g jar of Grade I Mongra saffron contains roughly 2,500 threads. For most home kitchens, 8-10 threads per dish is standard — so a 5g jar lasts through 250+ uses, or about 6-8 months of weekly cooking.

What is the difference between Mongra and regular saffron?

Mongra is the purest grade of Kashmiri saffron — only the deep-red stigma tips, hand-separated from the yellow style. It has the highest crocin (colour strength), safranal (aroma), and picrocrocin (flavour) levels. Regular or 'Lacha' saffron includes the yellow style, which adds weight but very little colour or aroma.

How should I store Kashmiri saffron to keep it fresh?

Keep the jar sealed tight, away from direct light and moisture. Store in a cool, dark cupboard — not the refrigerator, where condensation can degrade the threads. Properly stored, Grade I saffron holds its colour and aroma for 2+ years. The tamper-evident jar we ship in is designed for long-term storage.

Why is your saffron priced higher than what I see on Amazon or Flipkart?

Genuine Kashmiri Mongra saffron costs significantly more than blended, coloured, or Iranian re-packed saffron. On marketplaces, 'Kashmiri saffron' is often Iranian stigma dyed red and sold at a fraction of the real cost. Our pricing reflects: own cultivation (not middle-men), ISO 3632 lab grading, per-batch traceability, and a tamper-evident glass jar. You pay for provenance you can verify — not a label.
